Is Squidoo the Best Revenue Sharing Site? Friend or Foe?

This month Squidoo seems to be the best revenue sharing site for me.  If you read back you will see that I started writing lenses in April, soon after I signed up with HubPages, but quickly grew disillusioned.  I didn’t like the site design very much, the pages were messy and covered with advertisements.  Then there were the childish monsters that keep maniacally popping up to tell me that I won some points, like some bizarre game for toddlers.  The site seemed cliquey, why were other lenses getting so many “squidlikes” and comments, while mine were ignored?  What was worse a lot of the comments that I did get were the generic “nice lens”.  The worst thing about Squidoo, though, was their “lens rank” revenue sharing system, it seemed so unfair! Online Earnings December 2012-The Christmas Effect

Christmas CardChristmas is Good for Online Earnings!

December is traditionally a time of rich pickings in the retail sector and online earnings are no exception.  So did I benefit from the shopping craze that affects people a this time?  I guess I did to a certain extent, luckily I’ve got my Zazzle store and since October I have finally started publishing Amazon sales lenses on Squidoo.  You can’t really benefit from people’s shopping frenzy unless you sell things. HubPages Traffic Rollercoaster

why fractalI am a little bit hazy on the details but it appears that the Mayan End of the World has disappointed, so I am rather hopeful that my HubPages traffic roller coaster is coming to the ascent stage.  On the other hand, a Panda apocalypse is always a possibility since A Googler has just tweeted that they are rolling out a data refresh which will affect 1.3% of queries. Squidoo Traffic Drop but HubPages Traffic Rise

Funny Squidoo logo

It is official-the internet personally hates me.  The Nov. 17th mystery Google update caused a Squidoo traffic drop, about a month after I decided to focus my attention on writing Amazon sales lenses there.  I am aware of the dangers of being labeled paranoid, but there is no way of avoiding the obvious-the great inter web spirit has it in for me, and wants me to fail. Online Earnings in September and October

ball-65825I was avoiding the recording my September online earnings all of last month.  The last two months haven’t been particularly uplifting, and I just couldn’t find the inspiration to write about the paltry cents earned in September.  However, this won’t be a very thorough chronicle of earning in cyberspace if I just write about the good news. HubPages Slapped by Panda (Again)-Panda20

Panda bear

It looks so innocent, but the Google Panda strain can destroy website traffic

Poor HubPages, and poor HubPages writers.  I really feel that the staff on the site are working hard to try and get out from the grim shadow of the Google god wrath. Many of the things they are doing are making the site better.  I really like the new hub layout, it makes the pages look  neat, the fact that hubbers pictures are small and HubPages related stuff is kept to a minimum, makes the actual content on the page stand out, rather than the ‘community’ stuff.  The advertising is now very subdued compared to other revenue-sharing sites, and they’ve really cracked down on affiliate links.  And yet it is not feeling the Google love. Online Earnings in August

This is a very delayed summation of my earnings in August.  It is really difficult to gather much enthusiasm for the task, last month was rather dispiriting.  It is frequently said that it is a particularly bad month of online earnings, but now I am in the middle of September, and I am still waiting for the fall bounce.
